“拼车”英文怎么说？

    “拼”是个常用词，《现代汉语词典》 根据其不同的意思分别列为两条：

其一解释为 “合在一起” 或“连合”的意思，英语是put/join/piece together，甚至scrape together（拼凑）；

其二解释为 “不顾一切地干”、“豁出去”，英文是do one’s utmost。

    当然 “拼” 字在不同的说法中有不同意思，如 “拼搏精神”，英文有多种译法， 直译为combatant spirit， 或可稍加解释译为： the spirit of hard struggle; the spirit of fighting relentlessly; the spirit of going all out (to win success): the spirit of standing up to hardships等。又如 “拼体力”，英文是risk exhausting all one’s physical strength。

    近来出了不少带有“拼” 字的流行词， 比如“拼车”。 这里 “拼” 字的意思和《现代汉语词典》里的第一条多少还有点关联， 是“合用”的意思。

“拼车”的英文是car pool(ing)。pool本来的意思是 “水塘”或 “水池”，用作动词，有to combine (something to form a supply which can be used by a group of people的意思。car pool中被pool的是具体的东西car，但是pool的宾语也可以是money idea，但汉语不说 “拼钱” 或 “拼想法”， 而说“凑钱” 和“凑点子”， 即“集思广益”。

    《最新汉英特色词汇词典》（第5版）“拼车”条下还有car share的译文。share的意思是to have or use (something) with others。share的宾语也可以是interest，concern，blame等表示较抽象的概念的词， 意为 “分享”、“共同承担”，汉语一般也不用“拼” 字。 由“拼车”还延伸出来了“拼房”（roomshare），“拼养”（weekend daycare pool），“拼客”（即参加“团购”者，group buy/purchase）等新词语。
